Repairs & overhauling
Even BÄR shoes are subject to natural
aging and wear-and-tear depending on how they are used. Although we live from
selling you new shoes, our cobblers make sure that your favourite old BÄR shoes
retain their value for you as long as possible. We are the only ones that have
access to the original BÄR soles and leather qualities which can guarantee you
a top-quality result of a repair and the familiar BÄR premium comfort. Of
course we tell you if there are any limitations and just what “miracles” our
shoemakers can and cannot perform. We do our best to ensure you can soon pop
your BÄR shoes back on. Contact us at service@comfortshoes24.co.uk or by phone on 0808
1563 652 (Freephone) with your questions on repairs and
shoe care.
We can also take care of orthopaedic
modifications to BÄR shoes for you. We regret that you cannot return shoes
which have been customised to your special order or which have been altered
with orthopaedic modifications.
You can enjoy your favourite BÄR shoes for
a long time if you observe a few tips and tricks when wearing your shoes and

Important tips on looking after your BÄR
shoes:
To keep the top-quality cowhide/calfskin
or elkskin supple, it must be cleaned before you use a suitable care product.
Our mostly open-pored leather can only absorb creams or sprays when free of
dirt.
Cleaning:Smooth and patent leather are best cleaned
with a slightly damp cloth.
Suede and nubuck should be brushed free of
dust.
If extremely dirty, we recommend you wipe
the leather with a sponge using a little soap. Span your shoes on the naturally
shaped BÄR shoe trees and let your shoes dry slowly at room temperature (never
in direct sunlight or on radiators).
Shoe care:
Use a soft, old cloth to evenly spread
shoe cream on cleaned, dry smooth or patent leather. And remember, less is more.
The crucial thing is to keep the cream even and clean your shoes regularly. Let
the care product sink into the leather for a few minutes. Then take a soft,
horsehair brush or a soft cloth and polish your shoes until they shine. Rubbing
the shoes creates warmth which results in the constituent parts of the shoe
care product being able to work their way right into the leather, keeping it
flexible and soft. You can keep suede and nubuck soft and attractive by first
brushing the leather clean and then spraying the leather with a care spray and
letting it sink in. And then you’re done.

Stains:
Shoes get dirty. What can you do?
Blood can be removed with cold water and
soap.
Greasy marks are best removed with a
standard white spirit.
Chewing gum is easy to remove if you first
freeze it slightly in your deep freeze.
You can even remove marks made by
ballpoint pens from suede. Cover the mark with sticky tape, firmly scratch the
surface of the tape with your finger nail and then quickly remove the tape.
Glue: as with chewing gum, freeze in the
deep freeze and then rub it off.
Salt and snow marks can best be removed
with water containing a little vinegar.
Black marks on suede shoes, caused e.g. by
scuffing or getting your feet caught on stairs or on the accelerator, can be
“erased” with a suede stain eraser.
Stains that contain sugar can be removed
with warm water.
Please note:
Unlined shoes made of strongly coloured
leathers can stain light-coloured socks. Wiping the insides of the shoes with
vinegary water helps prevent staining.
